The Coochie Classic is the one of the classic SUP races in Queensland and one of the biggest SUP races in Australia. It is a highlight of the BrisSUP year with the top paddlers from across Queensland making the trip.  If you only do one race in the year, the Coochie Classic must be it! (Approx start time: 7:30am) The Coochie Classic offers short and long courses of 4 km and 8 km for Stand Up race boards (14’ and under) for the long course and Stand Up all-rounder (non-race board shapes), on the short course. The long course will commence at Les Moore Park (standing water start) and head towards the island paddling anti-clockwise around the island. The short course will also commence at Les Moore Park and paddlers will follow the long course over to the mainland and at the 2 km mark they will round a buoy anti-clockwise and head back to the starting location. 1.     Any paddler can paddle a SUP in this event. 2.     Each paddler must register separately 3.     Early Bird Rates: Non-Member $90, Member $50  4.     Standard Entry Rates: Non-Member $110, Member $70  5.     No late or on the day entries will be accepted after entries close (no exceptions) 6.     To gain points in the Tri Series and qualify for the Paddle Queensland State Team, you must be a member of a PQ SUP Club. Join us for the first Club Technical race of the year at Wellington Point. Venue: Wellington Point Race briefing: 7:30am Race starts:  8:00am There will be several traditional technical races for the 'serious' racers plus some novice events for all boards and paddle experience, including inflatables.  We'd love to see some of our newcomers come on down & give it a go. It's alot of un and you will improve your skills. Social paddlers welcome to join us and have a paddle out to King Island and the mangroves. Courses will be dependent on the weather conditions on the day. This is a members event. You must be a member of BrisSUP or another Paddle Queensland club to be covered by insurance on the day. Safety Leg or waist leash is compulsory. Paddle within your limits and be courteous out on the water.

Celebrate the amazing place we live & paddle in. Come and join us at Raby Bay (Beach 2) for a fabulous day of paddling and fun. Catch up with familiar faces and meet new members. BYO SUP! Inflatables welcome. (But everyone is responsible for their own safety) Bring a plate to share plus drinks etc. BBQ facilities available at the park. We'll have the club gazebos set up with tables for sharing any plates of savoury/sweet treats to nibble on during the morning. Come down early to get a parking space and help set up. Bring a chair and get yourself settled in for a day of fun and good times with the BrisSUP crew. Beginner's SUP Day on 17 January Registration for this event has now closed because we have reached capacity. Registration link. Contact Us If you're new (or newish) to standup paddling (SUP) and want to build your confidence out on the water, then join us for our Beginners' SUP Day with BrisSUP Club. Perhaps you've been paddling for a while and want to meet other paddlers and find new places for an adventure, then come on down and meet the Club and we'll show you Raby Bay. This is a fun day for those with their own SUP. It can be an inflatable, a wide SUP, short or long, any type of SUP (so long as it's seaworthy!). BrisSUP is an established SUP Club and our experienced paddlers will share their tips for paddling. What you’ll learn:  Improve your fitness and balance, learn some paddling techniques, self-rescue techniques, learn how to set up and maintain your equipment, explore Raby Bay, and have fun! When: Saturday 17 January 7:30 – 10am Where: Beach 1 (nearest playground), Raby Bay, Masthead Drive, Cleveland  Who is it for? Adults and kids (Kids 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult) Skill level needed: You must be able to swim & be able to get back on to your board. Always paddle within your own ability. Cost: Free. But registration for non-members is essential.  Registration is essential (see below) Register now We are a Paddle Queensland club and members at club-sanctioned events are covered by Paddle Australia (PA) insurance. Any problems, email us at brissup.inc@gmail.com. Safety Conditions Please read our Club Waiver  BrisSUP Club Waiver Leg leash or waist leash is compulsory Life vests optional. Strongly recommended, especially for children. Your board must be safe, no leaks! You must be able to swim. You must be able to get back onto your board if you fall off. We'll also cover some self-rescue skills. You need a level of fitness to be able paddle a few hundred metres. Weather We hope it will be sunny & calm. Unless it is raining or unsafe conditions we hope to go ahead because there is lots of onshore learning to be done & we can paddle in the sheltered bays at Raby Bay. The 2025 AGM will be held on Saturday 6th December at 9:15am after Raby Bay paddling. Bring a plate to share. Tea and coffee provided.  Download a nomination form. It's been a big year for the club and we invite you to join us to celebrate the club's achievements and to acknowledge the hard work of the Committee. Don't be scared of putting your hand up for the committee. When you join the BrisSUP committee you join an amazingly supportive group of friends. It's an amazing experience. Claiming the date Race 6: Technical Race with Club Award presentations All Club members are invited to our final race event. This is the final race event in our club series so the competition will be fierce, but friendly, with lots of fun thrown in. Race 1 counts for club points and the other races for bragging rights & tech practice. Social paddlers can head to King Island or join in the fun with a round or two of the technical course. Join us for the Club awards and race medals after the event to celebrate a big year for the club. With coffee /brunch to finish off. This is a members event Safety: Leash compulsory.
